Trap Dickey signs to TDE record deal announcement 2026
Big News: "Face of South Carolina" Signs With Top Dawg
Entertainment
It is official. The "Face of South Carolina"
just left the South and found a new home out West.
On March 17, 2026, the heavy hitters at Top Dawg
Entertainment, also known as TDE, made it rain. They officially signed
Hartsville, South Carolina’s own, Trap Dickey. This is the guy known for
telling real stories from the block with that gritty, sample-heavy sound. He is
the latest soldier to join one of the most respected squads in hip hop.
The Come Up: From Hartsville to TDE
Trap Dickey’s story is pure grind and survival. When
he was 21 years old, he caught a bullet to the face during a crossfire. He
survived. Instead of folding, he turned that pain into fire for his music.
The game first caught wind of him when his track
"Blue Devils" went viral. It blew up so big that it got a massive
remix with fellow Carolina king DaBaby. Since then, he has been on a roll,
cooking up tracks with heavy hitters like Key Glock on "Down South"
and BigXthaPlug on "No Love."
Why He Picked TDE
Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, the boss man
of the label, said this signing was deeper than just the money or the streams.
It was about that real life. It was about the "Preacher's Grandson"
and keeping it 100.
"Trap Dickey got a story that comes straight
from his real life," Top Dawg said. "That kind of realness is exactly
what we ride for at TDE."
Running With the Big Dogs
By signing with TDE, Trap Dickey is now standing
next to legends who changed the sound of rap and R&B. He is now label mates
with:
SZA, the queen of R&B
ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock, the OGs who built the house
Doechii, the Swamp Princess who breaks all the rules
Isaiah Rashad and Ab Soul, the lyricists who make you think
Ray Vaughn and Devin Malik, the young bulls holding it down
What Is Next?
Fans been waiting on this move since Trap hinted at
it during a talk with Bootleg Kev back in 2025. Now that the deal is done,
everybody is watching to see how that raw Southern energy mixes with the West
Coast flavor of TDE.
With his project "The Ville" on the way
and the whole TDE machine behind him, Trap Dickey is ready to take that South
Carolina sound worldwide.
